The Cause
Creating a world where everyone can live free from hate, fear, and violence
Data indicates that hate crime has been steadily on the rise. But the data understates the experiences of communities impacted directly by hate. Nearly 90 percent of the nation’s law enforcement agencies do not submit hate crimes to the FBI – and we know that there is a historic distrust between many communities and law enforcement, resulting in under-reporting. That means our understanding of the magnitude and nature of the crisis is dangerously limited — even as the crisis worsens.
Today’s political climate is highly charged. From white supremacist and anti-government movements moving more into the political mainstream, to conspiracy theories circulating online. From the failure of social media platforms to adequately address disinformation, to the amplification of hate by public officials.

The Content
Our team was uniquely positioned to elevate the families of hate crime victims, amplify our shared message, and help pass the new hate crime legislation.
Contributions included:
- Love Grows Here – We hosted an event in support of passing the Jabara-Heyer NO HATE Act near the US Capitol and created a suite of supporting content. Our team was uniquely positioned to elevate the families of hate crime victims, amplify our shared message, and help pass critical new hate crime legislation.
- Rapid response rallies & social content – When hate crimes made headlines and moved this issue front-and-center into the mainstream, our team was quick to activate rallies outside the White House, run ads, create social content, commission artist partnerships, and more.
- Black Justice is Our Justice – We launched an intersectional campaign that sought to undermine tactics white supremacists use to divide diverse immigrant communities.
- 100 Year Anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre – This initiative sought to inform and infuriate those who may not have known first-hand the extent of economic violence faced by POC in America for centuries. The Leadership Conference used this momentum moment to advocate for HR 40, a bill related to reparations.
- Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission – We created a beautiful piece of explainer content to help shape the narrative around this somewhat confusing discrimination-related Supreme Court case.
- One-Year Anniversary of Charlottesville – Although local community leaders decided to cancel our interactive mural activation, we created social content that sought to bring a little hope and positivity to a very dark anniversary.
