EDUCATION EQUITY

The Cause

Transforming our education system so that all young people can attend safe, inclusive, and resourced schools that prepare them for successful futures

Educational equity is a civil and human right. However, our nation continues to create discriminatory barriers that unfairly limit or deny educational opportunity for the youngest generations of Americans.

Advocating for all students is the right thing to do. But it’s also in the best interest of society as a whole. It’s important to work together and protect the rights and safety of students with disabilities, survivors of sexual assault on campuses, students of color, and other vulnerable communities to ensure every student in America can forge the best path to their future.

The Content

We were asked to create content and resources in support of the fight to push back against the MAGA movement’s dismantling of equitable public education. We decided not to hold back.

Contributions included:

  • Students Deserve Better – Two poignant PSAs, one edgy and one sweet, aired during back to school season 2018. They directed parents and allies to a resource site that included ways to advocate for students on a federal, state, and local level. Social ads and IRL advocacy helped to drive participation.
  • Police in Schools – Since putting more police in schools is not a safe and effective solution to gun violence, we created a moving video accompanied by a 120-org letter, press calls, coordinated social posts, and more.
  • Black History is American History – During peak frenzy over Critical Race Theory being taught in schools, our team went hard on social, sign-on letters, testimonies, and lifting up intersectional voices to drive reform.
  • Civil Rights Principles for Higher Education – The team created a report that helped serve as a roadmap, supported by informative video and social content.
